New  studies  have  shown  that  building  muscle  helps  your  body  fight  disease  better,  too.</p>
<p>Strength  training  gains  everyone,  no  matter  what  age  or  sex,  and  is  getting  recognized  as  an  necessary  element  of  fitness.  Research  is  indicating  that  the  muscle  loss  found  in  elderly  people  doesn&#8217;t  come  from  age,  but  lack  of  activity.  Even  a  young  person  who  doesn&#8217;t  get  sufficient  exercise  may  lose  muscle  mass  and  strength.  Strength  training,  such  as  lifting  weights  or  performing  weight-resistance  exercises,  as  little  as  twice  a  week  may  support  maintain  or  increase  muscle  mass.</p>
<p>Strength  training  involving  assorted  sets  of  multiple  repetitions  using  moderate  weights  will  not  result  in  big  muscles.  Instead  it  builds  bone  mass  and  increments  the  metabolism,  as  well  as  toning  and  firming  the  muscles,  giving  a  leaner  look.</p>
<p>It  is  very  essential  to  do  both  aerobics  and  strength  exercises. This  is  called  cross-training,  and  helps  reduce  the  probability  or  injury  and  overuse  of  sure  muscles.</p>
<p>You  will  want  to  carry out  aerobic  exercises  at  least  20  minutes  a  day  for  at  least  3  to  4  days  a  week.  If  you  are  attempting  to  lose  body  fat,  or  your  physical  condition  is  very  good,  then  you  may  want  to  work  longer  at  it.  Try  exercising  up  to  40  to  60  minutes  5  to  6  days  a  week.</p>
<p>Remember  there  is  no  real  need  to  go  overboard.  Moderate  intensity  is  almost  always  better,  and  is  more  enjoyable.  Low  to  moderate  intensity  is  an  particularly  good  idea  when  starting  out  after  a  layoff  or  recovery  from  impairment of normal physiological function  or  injury,  or  if  you  are  significantly  overweight.</p>
<p>Warm-up  and  cool  down  is  essential  to  reduce  uncomfortableness  and  the  prospect  of  injury.  Warm  up  by  starting  slow  and  gradually  build  up  to  your  top  speed.  Then  slow  down  again  at  the  end  of  your  workout.</p>

They are Rachel who lost 161 pounds, LaRhonda who lost 202 pounds, and Alex who lost 216 pounds.  There&#8217;s also an 11 minute segment where they give advice.  This workout is designed for those who want to start losing weight and have not been active.</p>
<p>There are three levels in the DVD.  Each level has its own warm up and cool down.<br />In all three, Chris Powell leads a group with various fitness levels.</p>
<p>Level 1 is about 15 minutes.  This workout is for people, (like the people on the cover, when they first wanted to get fit), who are just starting out.  Movements are slow and carefully controlled.  Mr. Powell instructs with safety in mind and works on the upper body, the lower body, and the core.</p>
<p>Level 2 is about 25  minutes.  This workout bumps it up a bit by introducing some aerobic movements.  Aerobics include some high impact, but there&#8217;s always a low impact version shown.  Mr. Powell works more on the upper body, lower body, and the core.</p>
<p>Level 3 is about 30 minutes.  Mr. Powell continues the upper body, lower body, and core work with longer aerobics, a series of squats, pushups, ab work and so on.  Easier modifications are shown.</p>
<p>Mr. Powell&#8217;s instruction is friendly, gentle, and mindful of newcomers to exercise.  No equipment is needed.  The DVD explains consistency in exercising over time to improve health.</p>

I think this video is exceptional in that it helps people like me(obese).  I have been doing it for a few weeks and it along with Chris Powell&#8217;s Stax program has helped me drop 45 lbs in 2 months!  Keep in mind I have been doing the stax program and walking and a little weight training. Now I am doing this workout video and walking and weight training a few days a week.  This is GREAT!!!!!  I CANNOT WAIT FOR HIS BOOK TO COME OUT DECEMBER 2011!!!!</p>

<p>I don&#8217;t understand why this workout video received so few stars by some of the viewers.  I&#8217;m not overweight but needed something a little bit lower impact and this video delivered exactly what I was looking for.  I average 5 miles daily on the elliptical or treadmill and this video still gave me a decent workout and was easy on my joints.  THE VIDEO SAYS IT IS LOW IMPACT right on the case cover!</p>
<p> My weight fluctuates between 115-130 and I&#8217;m in my late 30&#8242;s  5ft 4in.<br />Level 1 I burned 40 calories (2.8 per minute avg)  216 steps with activity of 09 minutes moderate 00 vigorous.<br />Level 2 I burned 127 calories (4.3 per minute avg)  892 steps with 19 moderate activity minutes and 05 vigorous.<br />Level 3 (modified) I burned 137 calories (4.0 per minute avg) 1415 steps  19 moderate activity with 07 vigorous.</p>
<p>The only thing I would have liked would have been a visual countdown clock for each interval and a couple of the kickboxing workouts didn&#8217;t feel balanced.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m very happy with my purchase and glad I gave this video a chance.</p>

<p>Cardio  machines  are  very  helpful  for  weight  loss.  If  you  use  interval  training,  you  may  get  more  results  than  if  you  did  traditionalisti  aerobic  cardio.  But  that&#8217;s  another  story  for  another  time.  Let&#8217;s  take  a  look  at  which  machines  burn  the  most  calories.</p>
<p>An  okay  choice:  Elliptical  Machines.</p>
<p>The  biggest  reason  to  choose  elliptical  machines  &#8211;  you&#8217;ve  got  a  bum  knee.  I  have  worked  with  clients  with  extreme  osteoarthritis  and  we  were  capable  to  use  these  for  a  decent  workout  without  pain.</p>
<p>But  other  than  that,  I  am  scarcely  impressed  by  the  elliptical  machine  for  fat  loss.  If  you  go  into  any  gym,  compare  the  bodies  on  the  ellipticals  to  the  ones  on  other  machines&#8230;most  of  the  time,  the  people  on  the  ellipticals  make  no  progression  from  month  to  month.  Sorry,  I  just  don&#8217;t  like  these.</p>
<p>But  if  you  have  bad  knees,  or  if  you  are  an  exception  to  my  experience,  feel  free  to  keep  rocking  the  elliptical!</p>
<p>Up  next&#8230;The  Stationary  Bike</p>
<p>The  bike  may  be  easy  on  your  knees  as  well,  peculiarly  if  you  are  overweight  and  can&#8217;t  help  your  bodyweight  at  this  time.</p>
<p>But  personally,  I  like  the  stationary  bikes  a  lot.  The  set  up  allows  you  to  do  a  big  amount  of  mechanical  work  for the duration of  your  interval  training  &#8211;  and  that  is  what  puts  Turbulence  on  the  muscle  and  allows  you  to  increase  your  post-exercise  metabolism.  In  fact,  when  I  original  started  designing  the  interval  workouts  back  in  2001,  I  used  stationary  bikes  exclusively.</p>
<p>I  likewise  think  that  the  bike  allows  you  to  work  very  hard  with  less  risk  of  injury.  Sprinting  requires  an  spacious  warm-up  due  to  the  explosive  nature  of  the  activity.</p>
<p>I  commend  starting  with  the  bike  unless  you  are  an  experienced  runner  that  knows  your  body  well</p>
<p>In  addition,  here  are  three  more  key  points  in regards to  the  bike.</p>
<p>a)  Stick  to  the  upright  version  if  possible.  When  using  a  recumbent  bike  for  intervals,  your  hips  tend  to  rock  too  much  and  your  body  tries  to  get  into  awkward  positions  in  order  to  push  hard  versus  the  resistance.  That&#8217;s  my  experience.  The  upright  bikes  are  set  up  better  for  intervals.</p>
<p>b)  For  intervals,  increase  the  resistance  versus  your  pedalling,  and  not  the  speed  of  your  pedalling.  I  don&#8217;t  like  high  RPM  spinning.  I  think  you&#8217;ll  get  more  results  and  do  more  work  when  you  keep  the  RPM  amid  80-100  and  work  versus  a  harder  resistance.  Forget  that  high-RPM  spinning  stuff&#8230;I  think  it  is  rough  on  your  hips  and  knees.</p>
<p>c)  When  on  the  upright  bike,  sit  as  upright  as  possible  for  the  recovery  intervals  or  even  stand  for  some  of  the  work  intervals.  Just  refrain from  a  rounded  over  posture  as  that  may  be  hard  on  your  low  back.</p>
<p>And  the  winner  is&#8230;The  Treadmill.</p>
<p>The  treadmill  may  burn  almost  20  calories  per  minute  of  exercise  for the duration of  your  workout.  That&#8217;s  a  huge  burn,  but  of  course  only  progressed  fitness  levels  may  achieve  that  &#8211;  but  hopefully  you  fit  that  category  now  or  you  will  someday  with  consistent  training  and  nutrition.</p>
<p>Some  tips:  Don&#8217;t  go  crazy  on  using  an  incline  (as  that  may  lead  to  tight  calves),  but  if  you  are  competent  to  run  at  more  than  10mph,  use  a  1%  incline  to  support  offset  the  need  for  more  speed.  The  last  thing  you  want  to  do  is  end  up  in  a  crazy  video  on  YouTube  with  you  flying  off  the  end  of  a  treadmill  into  an  elliptical  machine.</p>
<p>So  as  with  all  types  of  sprinting,  be  careful.</p>
<p>Honorable  mentions  go  to&#8230;The  Rowing  Machine  and  Stairmaster&#8230;these  may  be  applied  in  place  of  other  machines  for  assortment  and  are  still  effective.  Better  yet,  if  you  are  able,  use  your  body  as  the  best  fat  burning  machine.  I  highly  commend  bodyweight  circuits  for  interval  training.  These  are  fun,  effective,  and  perchance  even  better  at  sculpting  your  body.</p>

I had subjected myself to every diet from Optifast to Jenny Craig to Dr. Atkins to Richard Simmon&#8217;s deal-a-meal and was successful at losing weight, but as soon as  the diet was over, all the weight came back&#8230;.   and then some.
<p>From the  moment I walked into Dr. Shapiro&#8217;s office, all the dieting rules that had  been drilled into my head were thrown out the window.  He and his team of  nutritionists taught me that I was actually setting myself up for failure  with diets that were based on deprivation and control.  I learned that I  was actually sabotaging myself with some of the dieting techniques I had  been taught over the years.  Almost every dieting counselor/coach/sadist  that I went to forbid me to eat fat, sugar, and salt, so I was trained to  eat only low-fat, low-sugar, low-salt (and low-taste) &#8220;diet&#8221; foods.  Every  morning, I choked down a waxy, low-fat muffin or a plain bagel, sometimes  making it more palatable with a smidgeon of low-fat cream cheese because I  thought I was being good.  In my mind, I was a model dieter&#8230;. but yet, I  GAINED weight.  How could this be!   And the frustration just led to more  eating.
<p>The first and most poignant lesson I learned from Dr.  Shapiro was that a bagel has the same calorie content as the three-egg deli  breakfast I avoided like the plague.   No wonder I wasn&#8217;t losing weight!    This book is full of simple strategies like this that help you to  understand what you are eating and enable you to make better choices.   There&#8217;s no starvation, no weird or embarrassing dieting tactics and no  suffering involved.  Throughout the entire time I was losing weight, I ate  most of my meals at restaurants, traveled extensively, and never felt like  I was on a &#8220;diet&#8221;.  It took me a year to lose those 40 lbs and I&#8217;ve kept  the weight off for four years.  My Dad started seeing Dr. Shapiro 6 months  ago and has lost 35 lbs.  I am thankful to Dr. Shapiro and his staff for  literally changing my life.  Read this book and follow Dr. Shapiro&#8217;s advice  and it can work for you too!</p>

The biggest factor  working for him is the fact that this is not a &#8220;diet&#8221; &#8212; i.e.,  replete with complicated and stringent eating rules and regulations &#8212; he  simply shows you that by increasing your consumption of fruits/vegetables  and decreasing your consumption of other foods (not necessarily eliminating  them however) you can eat a good deal of food (even interesting food) and  still lose weight/maintain weight.  The only thing I wish he had added to  the book: 1. more info on better meat choices (i.e., lean chicken etc.) 2.  ideas for people with seafood allergies (i.e., he includes many examples of  low cal meals based on shrimp, scallop, clams, etc- &#8211; but if you&#8217;re  allergic to seafood this part can be somewhat disheartening).  Overall, as  I mentioned in the title of this review &#8212; it&#8217;s a well-written,  well-illustrated book and it is worth a read.</p>

White<br />Dr. Shapiro&#8217;s book turned me around overnight. I&#8217;ve never gone on a diet before -so I don&#8217;t know how the others work. I was simply ignorant of how many calories were in different foods. I just ate what came before me, including junk foods at the convenience store. After ,looking at the  sensible pictures (well done, by the way), I changed my eating routine  immediately, with no regrets. I simply eat stuff that has less calories-  without having to diet. Every now and then I have a &#8220;treat&#8221; if I  feel like it. My pounds are lessening and I have done nothing but made the  right choices. I feel great! Thanks Dr. Shapiro!</p>

Other  studies  by  Gannon  et  al.  and  Nuttall  et  al  have  verified  that  blood  glucose  levels  and  glycosylated  hemoglobin  (a  marker  of  long  term  diabetic  control)  reduce  after  5  weeks  on  a  diet  containing  30%  of  the  total  feed  energy  in  the  form  of  proteins  and  low  carbohydrate  content.  It  is  speculated  that  a  high  protein  diet  has  a  favorable  effect  in  diabetes  due  to  the  capacity  of  proteins  and  amino  acids  to  stimulate  insulin  release  from  the  pancreas.  Thus,  a  high  protein  diet  is  not  only  safe  in  diabetes,  but  may  also  be  therapeutic,  resulting  in  bettered  glycemic  control,  and  decreased  peril  of  complicatednesses  affiliated  to  diabetes.</p>
<p>The  gains  of  a  high  protein  diet  do  not  end  here.  Individual  protein  constituents  of  such  a  diet,  when  aptly  chosen,  may  have  other  vantages  as  well.  Dietary  supplements  containing  proteins  like  whey  and  casein  come  highly  recommended.  Casein  is  a  milk  protein  and  has  the  capacity  to  form  a  gel  or  clot  in  the  stomach. COLLIER<br />This is a book for food for Diabetics, especially type II. The recipes and methods follow Dr Bernstein&#8217;s other book (The Diabetes Solution: The Complete Guide to Achieving Normal Blood Sugars &#8211; which I highly recommend from seeing it actually work on on my mother and my spouse).</p>
<p>First things first: There have been other reviewers who seem to not only  to have missed the point that this is for *diabetics*, but also have an axe to grind with snarky comments about &#8220;low carb taliban&#8221;.  Thats an idiotic thing to say when uncontrolled carbs are the very things that are killing the type II diabetic with uncontrollable blood glucose levels.  This is not some flavor of the month to be glib about &#8211; this is a lifestyle change to treat a life threatening disease.</p>
<p>There is no cure &#8211; you will have to change your life; Dr Bernstein is quite clear about that.  And Diabetes is all about  rules you must use to control your blood sugar.  It all begins with your food.  Control your food intake and you will enable control of your blood sugar.  And thats is where the &#8220;strict&#8221; and &#8220;forever&#8221; come from.  Regardless of how snarky some people wish to be about it, this is a choice between eating that cinnabon and dying of diabetic complications, or moving along and realizing that you are making a trade-off: the carbs for your health.  Either you control your diabetes or you will die from it.</p>
<p>There have been comments made about the &#8220;outlawing&#8221; of Splenda (and Equal as well, had that the review bothered to read further), but this  applies only to the *powdered form*. Dr Bernstein instead recommends Stevia if you wish to use a powder, or the *tablet* form if you wish to use Equal or Splenda.  In fact, the tablet form of Equal is what Dr Bernstein writes that he himself uses.</p>
<p>All the facts: dieters should note that many of the artificial sweeteners in the dry form you find in those blue or yellow or pink packets actually contain sugars other than sucrose in order to provide bulk and avoid bitterness.  Read the label in the grocery store and you will see that is the truth about a vast majority of the powdered forms, especially things like dextrose.   </p>
<p>Beware of poeple who cavalierly and foolishly dismisses the presence of those substances, even though they are sugars!  This causes me to seriously question whether that such people did much more than skim the book to reinforce thier biases.  I urge people to go browse this book or the reviews for the other Bernstein book (or other sections of the book as published online at Dr Bernsteins web site).</p>
<p>Back to this book now that some common erros and misconceptions have been pointed out:</p>
<p>The recipes in here fit very well into almost any low-carb diet.  But unlike the typical &#8220;Atkins&#8221; recipes (which some people use as an excuse to have a bacon-grease free-for-all),  they also take into account protein and fat content to a much greater extent.  There is a lot of difficulty in coming up with a menu that keeps your carbohydrates in line with Dr Bernstein&#8217;s inescapable &#8220;Laws of Small Numbers&#8221;, but this cookbook is a great starting place.  </p>
<p>The recipes do not use many exotic items, and are reasonably easy for an experienced home-cook to prepare.  There is a lot of &#8220;flavor&#8221; in these dishes, so, unlike some other low-carb diet plans I&#8217;ve had, there is no need to eat with your fork in one hand and the tabasco sauce in the other.</p>
<p>However, after a while, even these recipes will get &#8220;stale&#8221; if this cookbook is all you are using.  There are not really as many recipes as most other low-carb cookbooks.  But by examining how this book put together the proper amounts of protein and carbohydrate, proper portioning, and the proper types of carbohydrates, you can readily take other low-carb recipes and menus and adapt them to fit into the Bernstein Diabetes Solution.  For example I was able to adapt many of the recipes in Carpender&#8217;s &#8220;500 Low-Carb Recipes&#8221; and &#8220;15 minute Low Carb Recipes&#8221; books with little trouble at all.</p>
<p>Bottom line: For the casual dieter, there are probably easier ways of doing that, but for the diabetic, this is the gold mine.  This book, along with the main &#8220;Solution&#8221; book will be invaluable for those working with their doctors to implement their own personalized &#8220;Diabetes Solution&#8221; to control and achieve normal blood sugars.</p>

Yes it is possible to &#8220;normalize&#8221; your blood sugars! I follow this plan and it has worked!  My gestational diabetes converted to the real thing in 2002.  I was put on the conventional ADA diet (220 carb a day!) and quickly found I could not keep my blood sugars in range on this diet. In frustration I read everything I could to research this disease.  I had worked as  therapist in a rehab hospital long enough to see hundreds of diabetic patients suffer strokes, heart attacks, kidney disease, amputations etc.  I had a healthy fear of this disease!!! In short, it kills.  This book explains how Dr Bernstein suffered as a Type I diabetic for years until he -through trial and error- figured out what foods to eat to normalize blood sugar. This is Dr. Bernstein&#8217;s program distilled to its essense. </p>
<p>I had heard about it from his web site, and ordered a copy before it was published. Even though I read Diabetes Solution (both editions) I did not realize that Dr. Bernstein was the FIRST diabetic to monitor his own blood sugars (and his account of how he stumbled on his program is pretty funny&#8211;he thought exercise and not diet was the key). </p>
<p>I got the book about three days ago and have already read it cover to cover and tried some of the recipes. The chef is a genius. She runs a restaurant but has a son who is a type 1 diabetic, so she knows how to cook for a diabetic, but she also really knows how to cook&#8211;or create, or whatever&#8211;she&#8217;s an artist.</p>
<p>We had people over for dinner and I made the veal with fennel and mushroom cream sauce and the green bean recipe and people raved over the food so much that I had to write down the recipes for three of my guests. I&#8217;ve had people ask for recipes, but never had THAT happen before (not a single one of them was a diabetic or low-carb dieter).</p>
<p>Despite what seem so far like fantastic recipes (I tried the turkey and stuffing recipes for Christmas and they were WONDERFUL), the book itself is easy. Dr. Bernstein lays out all the information very clearly without a lot of the science that is in Diabetes Solution. The science is good, but sometimes it&#8217;s a little overwhelming and you just want to say, Okay, fine, but just tell me what to do. Dr. Bernstein does that in this book very clearly and does it really well. </p>
<p>As usual, he debnks a lot of myths and explains exactly why, for example, the glycemic index isn&#8217;t worth much (there are many of them, they don&#8217;t agree on what food should be what number, etc.). </p>
<p>For people who want to cut to the chase and start his program to get their blood sugars into normal ranges&#8211;without knowing all the ins and outs of why&#8211;this book is perfect. It&#8217;d be great for people who just want to eat a tasty, low carb diet. As a companion to Dr. Bernstein&#8217;s Diabetes Solution, it&#8217;s worth it for the recipes alone, but it&#8217;s much more than that. </p>
<p>While the book is called The Diabetes Diet, it could also be used by anyone who wants to eat healthy and avoid diabetes. And with the endless rise of diabetes around the world, that&#8217;s a lot of people. Dr. Bernstein treats lots of overweight people&#8211;people not technically diabetics&#8211;and helps them avoid the awful side effects of diabetes.</p>

<p>Everyone  knows  that  a  healthful  diet  combined  with  moderate  exercise  is  the  cornerstone  of  any  weight  loss  program. They  were  broken  into  three  groups:  an  exercise  only  group,  a  diet  only  group,  and  an  exercise  plus  diet  group.  The  goals  were  to  determine  which  group  would  become  more  effective  at  a  queer  exercise  task  at  the  end  of  four  months,  as  well  as  if  the  body  would  burn  calories  from  the  fat  stores  or  carbohydrate  stores.  Because  quick  weight  loss  was  not  the  focus,  one  can not  determine  from  this  study  which  group  lost  weight  the  fastest.</p>
<p>At  the  end  of  the  four  months,  it  was  clear  that  the  diet  only  group  made  the  least  amount  of  progress.  Though  they  did  lose  weight  and  become  more  effective  at  the  exercise  they  chose,  they  likewise  lost  the  most  lean  muscle  mass  out  of  any  other  group.  Both  the  exercise  only  and  exercise  plus  diet  groups  burned  the  most eminent  amount  of  fat,  distinctly  showing  that  exercise  is  critical  in  helping  seniors  lose  weight.</p>
<p>This  study  without doubt or question  shows  the  importance  of  exercise.  Many  times  people  cut  it  out  of  their  weight  loss  plan  out  of  fear,  but  exercise  allows  the  body  to  burn  more  fat  and  save  the  lean  muscle  that  gets  burned  in  older  people  from  dieting  alone.  There  is  no  pardon  not  to  exercise,  no  matter  what  age  you  are.  If  hunger  is  a  problem  for  you,  check  your  motivatings  and  find  a  natural  appetite  suppressant  that  works  for  you,  like  hoodia. About 10 min after i took it i started feeling kinda odd and a bit dizzy. That was about 1 hour ago so i&#8217;m writing this while it&#8217;s in my system. I feel kinda sleepy and &#8220;slow&#8221; to react, and have quickly developed a headache as well. And i feel kinda hungry too. <br />I guess i didnt&#8217; take enough to supress the appetite but enough to know that i won&#8217;t be taking this stuff any more&#8230; I Googled &#8220;hoodia bordonii sleepy tired&#8221; and found that i&#8217;m not the only one. It seems like a pretty standard complaint. So at least now you know something i didn&#8217;t know when i ordered mine which is the goal of these reviews&#8230;</p>

The  next  time  you  use  the  toilet  stop  and  take  a  private  moment  to  look  at  your  feces  to  see  the  result  of  your  diet.</p>
<p>First  off  how  a heap of  times  a  day  do  you  poop?</p>
<p>On  intermediate  a  healthful  person  will  have  three  bowel  movements  everyday.    All  persons  need  to  evacuate  at  least  once  everyday.    If  you  do  not  &#8220;go&#8221;  at  least  every day  then  you  are  constipated  and  if  you  go  more  than  3  times  you  have  diarrhea.    The  diarrhea  part  most  persons  perceive  but  a lot of  do  not  realize  how  necessary  it  is  to  &#8220;go&#8221;  each  and  everyday.</p>
<p>What  with regards to  the  smell?</p>
<p>The  smell  of  your  bowel  motion  is  a  direct  result  of  the  type  of  foods  and  drinks  you  consume.    Generally  speaking,  feces  will  smell  worse  if  you  consume  foods  or  liquids  with  some  artificial  flavors  or  chemicals.    You  may  reduce  the  offensive  odor  by  eating  more  natural  foods  that  do  not  integrate  the  artificial  flavors  or  chemicals.</p>
<p>Does  it  float?</p>
<p>Whether  or  not  your  feces  float  is  an  indicator  of  a  healthful  diet.    A  good  diet  would  result  in  the  stool  sinking  to  the  bottom.    A  drifting  stool  may  be  a  symptom  of  a  more  severe  problem  but  more  than  likely  it  is  because  you  are  eating  too  a heap of  fatty  foods  in  your  diet.    Increased  levels  of  nutrients  in  the  stool  are  supplied  to  the  normal  bacteria  that  live  in  the  gut,  which  in  turn  construct  more  gas.  This  results  in  more  gas-rich  stools  that  float.    Lower  the  fat  content  of  your  feed  and  your  poop  ought to  sink.</p>
<p>How  hard  is  it?</p>
<p>A  good  healthful  poop  must  be  like  toothpaste.    If  you  strain  or  have  actually  solid  poops  then  you  need  to  adjust  your  diet.  What  you  will have to  do  is  increase  the  amount  of  fiber  in  the  daily  diet  by  eating  foods  like:</p>
<p>o	Whole  grain  breads  and  cereals</p>
<p>o	Fresh  raw  fruits  with  skins  and  seeds</p>
<p>o	Fresh  raw  vegetables</p>
<p>o	Fruit  juices</p>
<p>o	Dates,  apricots,  raisins,  prunes,  prune  juice,  nuts</p>
<p>What  color  will have to  it  be?</p>
<p>Feces  will  most  many times  be  light  or  dark  brown  which  is  natural.    Consult  a  doctor  without delay  if  there  is  blood  with  stools,  if  blood  has  colored  a  stool  red,  if  a  stool  appears  black  and  tarry,  or  very  light  or  pale  in  color,  as  these  changes  may  indicate  a  severe  condition.</p>
<p>What  is  a  good  shape?</p>
<p>This  question  may  fetch  an  entire  mental  collage  of  thoughts  that  need  no  description  here.    So  lets  go  straight  to  the  description  of  what  is  healthy&#8230;<br />
<br />Well  formed  stools  are  soft  and  flexible.    They  have  good  texture,  volume  and  weight  and  are  passed  effortlessly  (with  out  straining  hard).  They  make  a  clean  exit  from  the  body  and  hold  their  shape.    The  length  must  be  from  four  to  seven  inches.</p>
<p>So.  if  you  are  living  a  healthful  lifestyle  with  the  proper  diet  your  bowel  movements  must  follow  a  rigorous  pattern.    It  is  something  you  have  to  do  rather  many times  and  I  hope  you  will  use  this  article  to  realize  that  your  feces  are  not  just  something  you  flush  away.    It  is  a  barometer  of  your  diet  and  your  body.    So  think  twice  before  you  just  flush  it  away.      I  give hope or courage to  you  to  further  exploration  this  subject  yourself  because  it  genuinely  demonstrates  what  is  going  on  inside  your  body.</p>

I think the book is an excellent printed guide to material you can find on the Internet for free.
<p>There&#8217;s a lot of &#8220;rah rah&#8221; fluff in it, and information that most people probably won&#8217;t find applicable to the civilian world. The obstacle course for example &#8212; unless you live on a military installation you won&#8217;t have access to it. There&#8217;s the confidence course &#8212; the only time I did that was in boot camp. The rifle PT &#8212; good if you have access to an M16A2 Service Rifle, most people don&#8217;t.
<p>Most of the workouts in the Daily 16 remind me of the type of things that were just done in boot camp. When I got to my Infantry unit, we did more &#8220;mission specific&#8221; workouts, martial arts, and a lot of gym workouts if we weren&#8217;t in the field. Even aboard ship there&#8217;s always a weight room with machines and treadmills, so that always seemed like a good workout.
<p>I hate to admit it, but a closer guide to the type of PT I did in the Marines is &#8220;Maximum Fitness&#8221; by Stewart Smith. He describes the Navy SEAL workouts, and they incorporate weight training and swimming. I was a scout/safety swimmer, and I can&#8217;t begin to describe the amount of swimming that we did, and &#8220;Maximum Fitness&#8221; covers a lot of the swimming aspect with fins. It goes over &#8220;Pyramid&#8221; training, and instead of swinging a rifle around your home or apartment, it has similar exercises with dumbbells.
<p>I use both books, but I think the SEAL one (one of the contributors is former USMC Force Recon, if you absolutely detest the Navy) is more approachable to civilians and more representative of the types of workouts I did as a grunt in the US Marines.</p>

The workouts start you off at a low pace that increases it&#8217;s cadance as the months roll on.  The &#8220;Daily 16,&#8221; in  itself, is a great workout that you can perfrom ANYWHERE. This, along with  the rest of the PT ideas, will give you a great amount of variety in your  workouts &#8211; hence &#8211; no boredom. No equipment needed! Just your desire to get  in the best shape of your life!</p>

This is a great book for anyone who wants to workout like a Marine or someone who is getting in shape for boot camp or OCS. These are the same workouts that Marines use daily and while on sea duty. The rifle PT section is excellent and you do not need an M16 to make full use of this workout. The book explains more than just workout routines. It does have other information that one may not use. Use  the  US  Dept.  of  Agriculture&#8217;s  feed  pyramid  to  help  you  determine  what  you  ought to  be  eating  and  the  rectify  percentage  sizes.</p>
<p>Many  dieters  following  this  plan  find  that  they  are  less  hungry  through  the  day,  less  prone  to  binging  on  junk  food,and  are  competent  to  stick  to  their  healthful  diet  plan  much  better.</p>
<p><b>2.  Set  Smaller  Weight  Loss  Goals</b></p>

It&#8217;s  days  like  this  when  we  are  most  prone  to  the  desire  to  cheat.  My  suggestion&#8211;go  in front  and  &#8220;cheat&#8221;,  but  cheat  with  a  plan.  Instead  of  just  grabbing  a  candy  bar  and  gobbling  it  down,  get  yourself  galore  veritably  good,expensive  dark  chocolate.  Take  one  of  the  chocolates  and  eat  it,  slowly.  Savor  the  flavor  and  textures  as  you  eat  your  treat.  You&#8217;ll  find  that  you  will  be  very  satisfied  with  the  one  piece  because  you  genuinely  enjoyed  it  and  your  diet  will  still  be  &#8220;on  track&#8221;.  Remember,  if  you  must  cheat,  cheat  with  the  genuinely  good  stuff.</p>
<p><b>4.  Make  Your  Calories  Truly  Count</b></p>
<p>Your  calories  will have to  primarily  come  from  the  feed  you  eat.  They&#8217;re  meant  to  give  your  body  energy  all around  the  day,  so  don&#8217;t  waste  your  calories  on  sugary  drinks  or  alcohol.  These  may  cost  you  a  ton  in  calories  but  give  your  body  not one thing  in  return.  Limit  these  drinks  to  one  or  two  a  day  at  the  most.  Choose  water  to  quench  your  thirst,  instead.</p>
<p><b>5.  Get  Moving.</b></p>
<p>Dieting  alone  isn&#8217;t  sufficient  to  lose  weight.  You  need  to  add  exercise  to  your  daily  routine.  Daily  physical  exercise  helps  you  raise  your  metaboli process  and  tones  your  muscles.  You  don&#8217;t  need  to  join  a  gym  or  buy  pricey  workout  equipment,  either.  You  may  gain  the  gains  of  exercise  by  adding  a  procedure  of  brisk  walking  to  your  day.</p>
<p><b>6.  Eat  Slowly.</b></p>

For  me,  it&#8217;s  french  fries.  I  cannot  have  even  one  french  fry,  because  I  know  I  will  inhale  the  whole  batch  in  no  time  flat.  So,  I  merely  do  not  eat  these  at  all,  and  my  diet  (and  my  willpower)  remains  strong.  Find  out  what  your  &#8220;Kryptonite&#8221;  feed  is,  and  resolve  to  banish  it  from  your  life.</p>

Spending time reprogramming your thinking patterns helps to banish negativity so you can achieve the change you are seeking.</p>
<p>In the first session time is spent explaining how thoughts influence the body and how the body influences thoughts. Steven Gurgevich explores the dynamics of weight loss and explores how you can achieve your perfect weight. He gives insight into the origins of emotional eating and explains why diet beverages can actually cause you to gain weight.</p>
<p>In the second session acceptance and self control are encouraged and positive affirmations encourage new positive lifestyle choices. I love the part where you imagine you are going up stairs into a castle tower. I felt like he was reading my mind because for a long time I&#8217;ve had such a place to escape to and it brings a sense of comfort. In this tower, you sit in a chair and listen to a calming voice leading you to places where you can remove emotional obstacles and understand why you may choose certain foods for various reasons. This hypnosis sessions on this disk include: healthy habits, emotional barriers, self-love and acceptance, and self-control for cravings and temptations.</p>
<p>In sessions three there are various ideas that bring healing to your life. You may choose to spend more time enjoying the preparation of food or choose to step away from food and introduce other emotionally fulfilling activities in place of unconscious eating. I did think that the idea about throwing away food was not a good idea after dinner &#8211; instead freeze the leftovers and reheat the next day. This will allow you more time to exercise because you won&#8217;t be spending so much time cooking. There is a morning motivation, before dinner hypnosis and a bedtime hypnosis.</p>
<p>Through listening to the three CDs, you can convince yourself that weight loss is a worthwhile achievement and you can start to reprogram your mind so your metabolism increases and your self-confidence is renewed.</p>
<p>If you prefer not to put yourself in a trance (it feels more like relaxing into words), you can just listen to the CDs while fully present and gain a sense of what it will take to make an ally of your subconscious. You can use positive affirmations and many of the ideas to establish healthier habits over time. A booklet is included with additional tips and techniques for lifestyle changes.</p>

I am not exercising much (yet) other than parking further back in the lots and am not on any special diet plan other than eating whole, healthy foods, limiting dessert to 1 time per week and making sure I eat at least 3 times a day. I shoot for 3 small meals per day with snacks but have a hard time eating that often. Anyway&#8230;I listen to the book with headphones when I go to bed. It does have a wake up at the end, but it doesn&#8217;t wake me once I am sleeping. When I wake in the morning I feel rested; I have found it amazingly easy to make healthy food choices and I credit this CD. I do recommend listing to hypnosis tapes daily when you first start.</p>

I feel myself carried into a trance state without much difficulty, perhaps because this happens in the safety of my own home. The first CD gives many tips on reaching your perfect weight. The second has four separate hypnosis sessions (like guided meditations). Each one addresses a different issue around weight issues &#8211; changing your taste for foods, finding your own, unique reasons for gaining weight in the first place, loving yourself and visualizing the cells of your body functioning the way you want them to, and craving control. The third and final CD is one you should use daily, with three separate sessions for morning, before dinner, and before sleep.</p>
<p>In addition to the focus on weight loss and gaining your perfect body, there is an emphasis on feeling good in general, which I like very much.</p>
<p>I would say that for me these CD&#8217;s are proving effective. In the past five days I have lost three pounds without stress. I notice that I&#8217;m drinking my green drink more than once a day(very unusual for me) and just am less interested in food. Pretty impressive.</p>

Though  they  did  lose  weight  and  become  more  effective  at  the  exercise  they  chose,  they  also  lost  the  most  lean  muscle  mass  out  of  any  other  group.  Both  the  exercise  only  and  exercise  plus  diet  groups  burned  the  most eminent  amount  of  fat,  without doubt or question  showing  that  exercise  is  critical  in  helping  seniors  lose  weight.</p>
<p>This  study  without doubt or question  shows  the  importance  of  exercise.  Many  times  humans  cut  it  out  of  their  weight  loss  plan  out  of  fear,  but  exercise  allows  the  body  to  burn  more  fat  and  save  the  lean  muscle  that  gets  burned  in  older  persons  from  dieting  alone. I have had disappointing results with the other &#8220;popular&#8221; brands that I tried but I dont want to bash other products.  Im getting older  so I am more prone to weight gain so I have been using this Hoodia for almost a year now It helps curve my cravings but doesnt stop my appetite completely, which I think would make me forget to eat basic food.  At first,  I stopped my weight gaining trend but then after a while,  I started losing weigh as I ate less crap food.  I have lost about 18 pounds in the last 6 or 7 months.  For people who dont know Hoodia:  it is not supposed to stop all of your appetite,  only help limit it.  I will stick with this brand.</p>

I can count on this hoodia to lower my urge to eat most every time.  I have an exception now and then but not too often.</p>
<p>I really find this helpful when I want to lose weight by skipping snacks or a meal.</p>
<p>On the weekends I skip breakfast and take the hoodia instead and during the work week I am usually skipping lunch.  I really like that I am saving money and losing weight at the same time.  This hoodia may not be the cheapest the price is still very good and it is the best I have tried so far.</p>

Low  to  moderate  intensity  is  an  exceptionally  good  idea  when  starting  out  after  a  layoff  or  recovery  from  sickness  or  injury,  or  if  you  are  significantly  overweight.</p>

Following  his  residency  at  Kaiser  Permanente  in  Fontana,  California,  Dr.  Mike  moved  to  San  Diego,  where  he  now  exercises  family  medicine  and  sits  on  the  board  of  the  San  Diego  Chapter  of  the  American  Academy  of  Family  Physicians. <p align="center">  <b>1<br /><b><br />Just  Give  Me  17  Days</b></b>    <P>I  <b>can  personally  sum</b>  up  the  17  Day  Diet  in  two  words:  fast  results.  <P>Depending  on  your  weight  when  you  start out  out  and  your  metabolism,  you  might  suppose  to  lose  up  to  10  to  12  pounds  the  introductory  17  days. You&rsquo;ve  got  to  stop  eating  unhealthful  crap.  You&rsquo;ve  got  to  eat  vegetables,  fruit  and  lean  meat.  I&rsquo;m  not  going  to  ask  you  to  probe  your  inner  eater  and  uncover  concealed  aroused  reasons  for  why  you&rsquo;re  fat.  But  I  am  going  to  ask  you  to  keep  your  portions  down,  cut  your  intake  of  fatty,  sugary,  salty  foods,  and  move  your  butt.  You  won&rsquo;t  be  faint  with  hunger  or  found  in  the  kitchen  at  midnight,  feeding  on  Froot  Loops  and  tubes  of  cookie  dough.  You  may  do  this,  because  any individual  may  do  anything  for  17  days.<br />

A  new  generation  of  science,  however,  shows  that  slow  isn&rsquo;t  inevitably  better.  <P><b>Shape  Up  the  Fast  Way.</b>  A  2010  study  from  the  University  of  Florida  proposes  that  the  key  to  long-term  weight  loss  and  maintenance  is  to  lose  weight  quickly,  not  gradually.  Among  262  obese  middle-aged  women,  fast  weight  losers  were  those  who  shed  more  than  2  pounds  a  week.  Compared  to  more  gradual  losers,  fast  weight  losers  lost  more  weight  overall,  maintained  their  weight  loss  longer  and  were  less  likely  to  put  weight  back  on.  The  conclusions  were  published  in  the  <I>International  Journal  of  Behavioral  Medicine</i>.  <P><b>Trim  Belly  Fat.</b>  We  pack  on  two  forms  of  belly  fat.  One  type  collects  around  internal  organs  (also  known  as  visceral  fat).  This  type  of  fat  raises  blood  pressure  and  cholesterol  levels,  and  increments  the  danger  of  diabetes,  Alzheimer&rsquo;s  and  even  a lot of  cancers.  Visceral  fat  is  far  more  sinister  than  fat  elsewhere  in  the  body.  <P>The  other  type  sits  just  beneath  the  skin  and  is  known  as  subcutaneous  abdominal  fat. <p align="center">  <b>  <b>What  Lies  Ahead?</b>  </b>    <P>So  what  is  this  17  Day  Diet?  I&rsquo;ll  go  into  depth  in  the  next  few  chapters,  but  as  a  very  quick  summary,  the  17  Day  Diet  is  a  fun,  fantastic  way  of  eating  designed  to  take  off  weight  quickly.  It&rsquo;s  based  on  a lot of  very  simple  principles,  one  of  which  is  eating  foods  that  favor  fat-burning  and  are  friendly  to  your  digestive  system.  <P>I  want  to  emphasize  that  excess  weight  is  always  a  sign  of  nutritional  and  metabolic  imbalance.  Contrary  to  frequent  assumption,  it&rsquo;s  not  rigorously  a  question  of  how  much  exercise  you  do  or  how  much  feed  you  eat.  Rather,  it&rsquo;s  also  a  question  of  what  types  of  foods  are  eaten,  and  how  they  are  digested,  assimilated  and  metabolized.  If  any  of  these  elements  of  good  nutrition  are  compromised,  then  the  body  will  not  be  adequately  nourished  at  the  cellular  level,  metabolic  function  will  be  impaired  and  toxins  will  accumulate.  Thus,  to  lose  weight  fast  we  need  to  optimize  digestion  and  metabolism.
